Castleton Silver Band

    Welcome to

Castleton Silver Band

Castleton Silver Band was formed in 1935 and is a rural band situated in the heart of the Peak District under the Musical Direction of John Whitfield.

We are not a 'competition band' we enjoy a fun relaxed approach but our aim is to play to the best of our abilities to produce a well balanced sound.

The band is fortunate to have a Training Band under the lively direction of Kath Batley.  more ...

If you can play an instrument or would like to learn please come along and join in, everyone is welcome, young and old.

We meet every Monday night at 7.15  Hope Sports Club.

Our year usually starts with the famous Castleton Garland during the rest of the summer we play at village fetes, galas and other local events.

We seem to attract quite a variety of engagements. We have  played on the top of Howden Moor whilst being filmed from a helicoptor.  We once played at Longshaw Sheep Dog Trails but had to stop while the dogs were running because we interfered with the whistle.  Our latest unusual job was to play for Red Bull at a running event the idea was to encourage the runners so we concentrated on 6/8 time rather than 3/4.
